New Pune International Airport
The government of Maharashtra has entrusted the responsibility of building a new Pune International Airport to Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). Earlier, Talegaon Dabhade and Saswad were the probable sites for this project. However, now the area between Chakan and Rajgurunagar, mainly around the villages of Chandus and Shiroli, is being considered. Both Chakam and Rajgurunagar are at a distance of 40 km from Pune, along the Pune-Nashik National highway, National Highway 50.

The new Pune International Airport will act as a gateway of Western Maharashtra to the rest of the world. With the completion of the project, the agricultural and floricultural exports from the area are also expected to get a boost, due to the faster movement of goods. Spreading over 24.28 hectares, it will become one of the largest airports in India, after completion. The new airport will have two runways and will get more international flights, once the project becomes complete.
